Private Sector Procurement Officer

Salary: £29,397 to £31,305 per annum dependent on qualifications and experience

Contract Type: Full Time - 37 hours per week

Contract Length: Permanent Contract

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to join our growing team, to work within the established Rother Tenant Finder Service and Rother Leasing Scheme. An increasing number of families with children, as well as single homeless people, require assistance to access private rented accommodation and your role will be to procure new accommodation in the private rented sector to meet this growing demand. You will work with a wider team of homelessness professionals to make these properties accessible to a range of homeless groups.

You will work with landlords and letting agents to build upon the reputation of the Rother Tenant Finder Service and promote a range of landlord incentive measures. You will have the opportunity to develop a range of new measures designed to increase the supply of affordable accommodation in the private rented sector through positive engagement with landlords and estate agents.

You will be quick to build a rapport with local landlords and letting agents in order to increase the supply of accommodation available to homeless households and better enable the Council to prevent homelessness effectively.

The successful candidate will have significant experience of working within the private lettings or wider housing sector. They will have worked to manage tenancies effectively, including the coordination of repairs and management of rent accounts. You will be experienced with liaising between tenants and landlords and understanding the needs of both of these.

The postholder will, in addition to the procurement of new properties, manage and support the tenancy sustainment work to ensure that the private sector has confidence that Rother is a trusted housing partner.

The ideal candidate will be resilient and flexible and have a commitment to supporting vulnerable households who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.  You will possess strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

You will be able to work under pressure and within time restraints while having strong influencing, negotiating and relationship building skills.
