Economic development has become a stand out focus for Rother District Council. Rother’s dual rural / coastal setting and outstanding scenery, hide a local economy struggling with low wage levels, poor road and rail infrastructure, a dispersed rural population and an ageing demographic profile, all of which provide challenges and opportunities for the Council when considering the economic and social well-being of the district.
- Rother is about to embark on a new economic development strategy, focusing on place and skills, that will speak to the county wide Prosperity Strategy and replace Rother’s Covid Economic Recovery Plan.

- The Council is looking to grow infrastructure and develop projects that address evidence based gaps in provision.
The Regeneration team at the council are consistently applying themselves to achieving these objectives through various projects. The Council works closely with other agencies in delivering elements of the strategy and to achieve our ambitions and those of our partners. These include:
