If you have recently moved or are about to move into a new property in Rother, this page explains the various services we provide and how to access them.

Register for Council Tax

You must register for Council Tax at your new property. You can do this online whether you’re moving from within Rother or from another district.  If applicable, you can also apply for a Single Person Discount at the same time.

Registering for Council Tax does not automatically update the Electoral Register, so you must do this separately to make sure you are eligible to vote in future elections.

Check your bin day

Our Find My Nearest service lets you see your bin collection dates, who your Councillor is and any nearby planning applications.

Subscribe to My Alerts

My Alerts is a weekly email service providing information for Rother residents and includes a bin day reminder. If you’re moving within Rother, you can update your details to your new address.

Sign up for a garden waste collection

Garden waste is a chargeable, property-based service. If your new property already has a service in place, you will inherit this for the remainder of the term. If the property doesn’t have a service in place, you can sign up for one.

Report a change of circumstance

If you have moved from within Rother and have an existing Council Tax Reduction or Housing Benefit claim, you can update your details online.

Check your eligibility for other benefits

If you think moving to a new home could have affected any other benefits you may be entitled to, you can use the gov.uk Benefits Calculators to check.

Discover the Rother district

Our leisure and events webpages are a useful starting point for discovering the Rother district and include information on our beaches, countryside and other recreational activities.

Find somewhere to park

Rother operates a number of pay and display and free car parks. Nominated parking permits are also available to purchase or renew online.

Find a Recycling Point

If moving to a new home has created extra rubbish or recycling, you can take it to one of the local Recycling Points.

Arrange a bulky waste collection

If you are unable to take large items to a Recycling Point, we can come and collect them for you for a fee.
