Proposed Rother Valley Railway (Bodiam to Robertsbridge Junction) Order

NOTICE OF PUBLIC INQUIRY

Notice is given pursuant to Rule 13(6) of the Transport and Works (Inquiries Procedure) Rules 2004 that Ian Jenkins (BSc(Hons) CEng MICE MCIWEM), an inspector appointed by the Secretary of State for Transport, will open a public inquiry into the application by the Rother Valley Railway Limited (“the Company”) under section 6 of the Transport and Works Act 1992.

The Inquiry is proposed to open in a virtual format using Microsoft Teams at 10.00 hrs on Tuesday 6 July 2021. Further information can be obtained from the programme officer, Mrs Joanna Vincent whose contact details are as follows –

The draft Order would authorise the Company to construct, operate and maintain a new railway and to operate and maintain two existing railways between a junction with the existing Kent and East Sussex Railway line at Bodiam and a terminus at Robertsbridge, all in the County of East Sussex, District of Rother. The Order would also authorise level crossings across the B2244 Junction Road at Udiam, Salehurst bridleway S&R36b and the A21 and Northbridge Street at Robertsbridge.

The Order includes provisions for –

  • the compulsory acquisition of land for the proposed works and ancillary purposes, including worksites; and provisions for the temporary use of land in connection with the authorised project;
  • power to investigate and survey land;
  • the temporary stopping up of highways; provisions relating to streets, traffic regulation;
  • other miscellaneous provisions.
