Residents in Rye are being asked to help shape the future of the parish.
Rye Town Council has submitted a final version of the Neighbourhood Plan Review to Rother District Council for formal consultation.
Residents, landowners, local organisations, developers and other interested parties are being encouraged to take part in the six-week consultation which runs until Friday, March 7.
Representations made during the consultation will be passed to an independent examiner who will decide whether the nature of the plan has changed and if the plan should again go to referendum. If the nature of the plan has not changed, it will be adopted once the examiner’s recommendations have been accepted.
After this stage, the plan will become part of the district’s statutory development plan and be a key document against which planning applications in the parish are decided.

Councillor Teresa Killeen, Rother District Council cabinet member for strategic planning, said: “The Neighbourhood Plan is an important document which will shape how Rye will develop in the future. It gives the residents direct input into the policies which will determine how development takes place in the area as well as a much broader range of polices which help shape the parish and address important issues identified by residents.
“I encourage people in Rye to look at their plan and take part in the consultation to ensure their views are taken into account by the examiner.”
