PEOPLE in Rother are being reminded of their last chance to have their say on a new seven-year plan for the district.
The consultation on Rother District Council’s Corporate Plan, which sets out its aims and objectives for 2020 to 2027, closes on Wednesday, March 17.
The new plan, which has been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, proposes 10 strategic objectives as the guiding principles for the district’s vision for the future.
The 10 objectives are: climate emergency, financial stability, increase the supply of affordable housing, housing list reduction, housing supply, empowered organisation, a fairer society, development of Rother’s economy, an open council and a town council for Bexhill-on-Sea.
Each objective has an early action plan that covers up to the next election of the district council in 2023. Action plans will be under review and projects can be added later.
The council is inviting people who live and work in Rother to comment on the 10 objectives and their action plans, and on whether the Council has identified the correct vision for the district.
Cllr Doug Oliver, leader of Rother District Council, said: “I would encourage members of the public to look at the draft corporate plan and let us know what they think.
“We would particularly like to hear from the younger members of our community, as they consider employment opportunities, housing options, and our impact on the environment over the next few years.
“This is the opportunity for people to have their say on the vision for the district and what it should look like by 2027 as we continue to work towards making Rother a better place to live and work.”
Cllr Oliver added: “The Corporate Plan has been developed during a very demanding time for the council and I would like to thank officers and members for the commitment they have shown to collaborative working to produce the draft plan.”
Following the consultation period, the feedback will be analysed and used to develop a final Corporate Plan. Cabinet and Full Council approval of the Corporate Plan 2020-2027 will be sought in May 2021.
