Rother District Council supports the Climate and Nature (formerly Ecology) Bill.
The motion to support the Climate and Nature (CAN) Bill was passed on 26th February 2024 at Full Council.
The CAN Bill is a plan for a new UK law that addresses climate change, global warming, and the nature crisis in line with the most up-to-date science. The Bill addresses the gaps in current legislation and ensures the UK takes responsibility for reducing the nation’s full carbon footprint. The Bill is the only proposed legislation before the UK Parliament that ensures a comprehensive and joined-up approach to the emergency.
