Trainee (Apprentice) Environmental Health Officer

Salary: £24,847 - £27,309 per annum (pay award pending), plus £2,907 Car Allowance per annum. Starting salary dependent on qualifications and experience.

Contract Type: Full Time - 37 hours per week

Contract Length: Permanent Contract

Applicants must ensure they meet the academic requirements of the University providing the training before applying. The course is scheduled to commence in September.

The role of an Environmental Health Officer is varied but founded on the protection of public health through protecting our environment- including our air quality, the food we eat, our housing and by reducing pollutants including noise. This new post is focused on the enforcement of housing standards and tenant rights.

You must be committed to working with the community, dedicated to protecting public health and the rights of individuals to enjoy their homes.

The successful applicant will enjoy working with the public, including supporting individuals within the community, and will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will also have the ability to carry out effective enforcement duties, including investigating issues, gathering evidence, and taking enforcement action.

The post holder will be expected to work independently and, at times, outside of normal office hours.
