Transforming Heritage. Powering Community. is a UK Government-funded partnership between Heart of Sidley, De La Warr Pavilion and Rother District Council. Together, we’re creating opportunities, inspiring pride of place and strengthening community life across Bexhill and Sidley.

In Sidley, a close-knit and resilient community less than a mile from the seafront, the project will create a welcoming new Community Hub: a place to connect, learn and belong. The Hub will include changing rooms, a cafe/bar, a presentation space and rooms for community use, alongside a new home for Creative Sidley, a partnership between De La Warr Pavilion and Heart of Sidley that offers creative opportunities and skills development for local young people.

The Icon for Everyone project at the De La Warr Pavilion will restore and reimagine this Grade I listed modernist landmark for the next century. Designed by architects Haworth Tompkins with input from local people, the redevelopment will create new learning and community spaces, refurbish the auditorium and galleries, improve accessibility, support sustainability and secure the Pavilion’s purpose as a creative and cultural home for all.

Together, these projects help safeguard Bexhill’s shared heritage, empower local people, widen access to creativity, generate new jobs and strengthen local economy.

Building a better future, together.
