Street Trading Intention

We are consulting on extending street trading in Bexhill town centre and in Ticehurst. We would like to hear about any impact or what you would like the council to take into account before making any changes. This consultation runs to 26 November 2021.

Bexhill Town Centre

The Council is consulting about allowing street markets in Sackville Road. Street trading would only be legal if the Council grant a consent to a trader.

Ticehurst

The Council is consulting about restricting street trading in Ticehurst: the village square and the surrounding roads. Street trading would only be legal if the Council grant a consent to a trader.

Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982

Notice of Intention for Proposed Resolution applying Controls on Street Trading.

For the purpose of definition, a Consent Street means a street in which street trading is prohibited without the consent of Rother District Council. A Prohibited Street means a street in which street trading is prohibited.

Bexhill-on-Sea new consent street

Sackville Road south from its junction with Western Road. This street is currently designated as a prohibited street

Ticehurst new consent streets

Church Street from its junction with St Mary’s Lane to High Street (B2099)

High Street from the Bell Hotel to its junction with St Mary’s Lane including the Village Square and all streets between Church Street and the High Street and all streets between St Mary’s Lane and the High Street.

All existing designated consent and prohibited streets in the district to continue to be designated, except for part of Sackville Road, Bexhill-on-Sea.
