Rother District Council (RDC) Regeneration Service has been successful in securing Government Welcome Back Funding for our district, building on the earlier Reopening High Streets Safely Fund announced by Government in May 2020. This funding has been made available to local authorities to help support communities and businesses as life slowly reopens post Covid-19.
We are delighted an element of the funding has been agreed to support a series of events specifically designed to increase footfall into our rural high streets over the shoulder months (ie Sept to Feb) and we are putting out a call to see if event organisers or organisations would be interested in submitting a proposal. These need to be new rural events, additional to what we already have happening in the area and one-offs brought together for the purpose of supporting and bolstering local retail and local businesses.
To apply please see Welcome Back Fund Events.
With Welcome Back funding allocated for an event to drive off-season footfall in Bexhill, RDC wishes to support the development of a new Winter Festival based in and around the town centre of Bexhill-on-Sea, including Sidley, Old Town and Little Common, supporting our local businesses, our communities and our artists.
This new event will be a spectacular professional production, working with key partners in Bexhill as well as professional and local artists. With the creative bar high, we are inviting submissions from event promoters with a successful record levering funding from the Arts Council.
To tender please see attached Bexhill Winter Festival Tender document.
