Good morning my planning runs out later this year my builder now cannot do my extension on 14/04/2021 as planned due to COVID-19 he’s saying next year can you please extend my closing date till same time next year please. (07/03/2021)
Answer:
Due to the effects of the global Coronavirus pandemic, planning law was changed by Government in 2020. Existing planning permissions (including outline permission) and listed building consents that had a time limit for implementation between 23 March 2020 and 31 December 2020 were automatically extended until 1 May 2021.
However as your permission expires in December 2021 no extra provision has been made. Therefore after that date if you have not started then under current guidelines you will need to reapply. (09/03/2021)
