Residents across Rother are being urged to shop local as the annual campaign to support business is launched in the district.
In the run up to Christmas Day and into the New Year, Rother District Council is asking people to shop and eat local to help boost Rother businesses.
‘Shop Local/Love Local’ posters are being distributed, and the Council will be promoting the campaign via its website, social media, and other communication channels.
Councillor Christine Bayliss, portfolio holder for regeneration and economic development said: “In previous years, Rother residents have shown they care about their local businesses and so I am asking for their help again to support their high streets and shop local this Christmas and New Year.
“You can buy your Christmas presents, and New Year bargains in the local shops in your area. And when you’re out and about, why not also treat yourself in your local cafes, restaurants, pubs or bars,” she added.
The Council will also be helping the campaign by providing free parking at certain times and days in its off-street car parks in Battle, Bexhill, Little Common and Rye to encourage local shoppers during December.
Charges will be suspended all day in Lower Market, Upper Market and Mount Street car parks in Battle on Saturday, December 20. Charges will also be waived from 4pm on Thursday, December 4 and Friday, December 12 for late night shopping events.
In Bexhill, charges will be suspended all day in the De La Warr, Eversley Road, Manor Barn & Gardens, Town Hall, Wainwright Road, and War Memorial car parks on Saturday, December 6 and Saturday, December 13.
Free parking will be available in Little Common car park from 4pm on Saturday, December 6 and all day on Sunday, December 14, Saturday, December 20 and Sunday, December 21.
For those visiting Rye, parking will be free all day in the Cinque Ports Street, The Strand, Bedford Place, Lucknow Place and Gibbet Marsh car parks on Saturday, December 6, Saturday, December 13 and Saturday, December 20.
