Housing benefit and council tax reduction fraud

You can report a suspicion of benefit fraud using one of the following methods:

  • By telephone: By calling our Benefit Fraud Hotline on 01424 787737

Other types of fraud or corruption

Suspicion of any other type of fraud should be reported using one of the following methods:

  • Online: By completing a Whistleblowing Form
  • By email: By sending a message to audit@rother.gov.uk
  • By telephone: By calling the Fraud Hotline on 01424 787799
  • By post: By writing to the Audit Manager at Rother District Council, Town Hall, Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex, TN39 3JX

When reporting fraud, please give us as much information as possible. For example:

  • The name and address of the alleged fraudster
  • The nature of the alleged fraud – e.g. claiming benefit while working, claiming council tax single person discount when more than one person is living at the property, sending false bills to the Council, etc
  • When the alleged fraud started
  • Any other relevant information – e.g. dates, times, car registration number, etc
