Food Waste Collections – Coming Spring 2026

From March 2026, every council in England will be carrying out weekly food waste collections from all households.  This is a new legal requirement by the Government under the new Simpler Recycling Regulations.

By collecting food waste we can actively reduce the amount we throw away as household waste. This helps increase our recycling rate as well as reducing our impact on the environment and therefore helps towards tackle climate change.

Food waste makes up about 30% of the average household waste bin.  By using your food caddy you will free up space in your rubbish bins and help cut down on the amount of waste going to incineration.

If your outside 23 litre food waste caddy is missing or broken you can order a replacement on the link below. If you live at a communal property and have a 140 litre food waste communal bin they can also be replaced by reporting them below.

Report a Problem – Rother District Council

We will no longer be providing further 5 litre Kitchen caddies. It will be residents responsibility to replace the 5 litre kitchen caddy and the ongoing supply of compostable liners.
