People in towns and villages across Rother are being urged to shop local as a major campaign is launched to support business.
In the run up to Christmas Day and into the New Year, Rother District Council will be asking residents to shop and eat local and help pump money into the local economy.
Shop Local posters are being distributed and the Council will be promoting the campaign via its website, social media, and other communication channels.
The Council will also be helping the campaign by providing free parking at certain times and days in its off-street car parks in Battle, Bexhill, Little Common and Rye to encourage local shoppers.
Councillor Christine Bayliss, portfolio holder for regeneration and economic development says helping our shops and businesses will support our high streets.
“In the run up to Christmas and into the New Year, I am asking our residents to Shop Local and Eat Local,” said Cllr Bayliss.
“You can buy your Christmas presents, and then New Year bargains in the local shops in your area. And when you’re out and about, why not also treat yourself in your local cafes, restaurants, pubs or bars,” she added.
The Council is providing free parking all day in its off-street car parks at Battle on the 30th November, 7th December and 21st December, in Bexhill on the 7th, 8th, 14th and 21st December, in Little Common on the 1st and 8th December, and at Rye on the 30th November, 7th and 14th December.
