Revenues and Benefits Officer (Revenues) – 2 Vacancies

Salary: £24,847 - £27,309 per annum. Starting salary dependent on qualifications and experience

Contract Type: Full Time - 37 hours per week

Contract Length: Permanent Contract

We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for two high-performing and motivated individuals to join our busy Revenues & Benefits Team.

In this role, you will be expected to be proactive, confident, and an excellent communicator, with the ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

You will be part of a team that delivers services to our residents, so a strong commitment to customer service and accuracy is essential.

The ideal candidate will preferably have a minimum of two years recent experience in a Local Taxation and/or Housing benefit environment. Although for the right candidate we would be willing to offer full training for the role.

This post is subject to a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.

Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Creating, amending, and closing Council Tax and Non-Domestic Rates accounts in accordance with information provided, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and guidance.
  • Assisting in the recovery of monies owed to the Council by initiating appropriate recovery actions in line with current legislation, procedures, and Council policies.
  • Negotiating payment arrangements with customers to recover outstanding debts, taking into account individual circumstances and promoting sustainable repayment plans.
  • Providing clear and accurate advice to residents and businesses regarding their Council Tax or Business Rates liabilities, including eligibility for exemptions, discounts, and reliefs.

Key Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly, confidently, and professionally to a wide range of audiences.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to process information accurately and maintain high standards of record-keeping.
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach, with the ability to manage your own workload, meet deadlines, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
