Salary: £51,753 - £56,393 per annum, plus a car allowance of £2907 per annum. Starting salary dependent on qualifications and experience.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced housing professional who wishes to lead the strategic development and continuous improvement of the Housing Solutions team within Rother. The successful candidate will have the necessary skills, knowledge and expertise to lead in the acquisition and management of the Council’s burgeoning temporary accommodation stock of seventy properties. In addition, you will be responsible for the development of the Council’s Homelessness and Rough Sleeper Strategy, Refugee Resettlement, Rough Sleeping Initiative and Rother Tenant Finder schemes. You will work closely with the Council’s Housing Needs Manager and Housing Needs team, having an opportunity to participate in the development and delivery of a new Housing Strategy for East Sussex, as well as oversee a varied program of innovative projects working closely with partners across the voluntary and community, health, social care and criminal justice sectors towards improving housing outcomes.
You will have experience of collaborating with partner agencies to harness external funding opportunities to deliver positive housing solutions and prevention outcomes that align with health, social care, criminal justice and employment priorities and outcomes. You will expand the existing portfolio of Council-owned temporary accommodation and continue to ensure its quality as well as the support available to empower clients to move into permanent accommodation. You will be the named Health & Safety Lead for the seventy residential properties the Council owns and comply with all activities associated with this role in line with legislation. You will develop a variety of housing solutions that meet the needs of a diverse range of clients from those within remote rural locations to urban areas of social and economic deprivation.
You will jointly oversee the Council’s program of projects that aim to prevent homelessness, developing community-based approaches that target those who are the hardest to reach. You will support the Council to develop its trauma- informed approach to supporting those experiencing multiple-complex needs across its services.
The ideal candidate will be resilient and flexible; have excellent organisational skills; be confident in analysing complex information to form user-friendly briefings, strategy documents, policy and reports, with the capability to evaluate performance and present findings to a number of key officers within the Council on a regular basis. You will also have experience of setting and achieving high standards for yourself and your team.
