Development Project Surveyor

Salary: £46,063- £50,669 per annum. Starting salary dependent on qualifications and experience. This post comes with an additional market supplement of up to £3,000 for the first year.

Contract Type: Full Time - 37 hours per week

Rother District Council is an ambitious Council at the heart of 1066 Country in East Sussex. Based in Bexhill-on-Sea the district also covers the historic towns of Battle and Rye as well as a large, attractive rural area, predominantly falling within the High Weald National Landscape.

The Corporate Development Team (CDT) at Rother District Council sits in a unique position of managing projects which span the various council service areas and is looking to deliver an ambitious £124m of capital investment over the next 5 years. The team will help forge a way forward for the district to deliver projects against its Council Plan, which is currently in the process of being updated.

The team works with colleagues and Members across the Council, influencing and shaping the Capital Programme, drawing on additional interim and professional support where required. The projects range in size and scale but all follow the Council’s core principles to enhance the wellbeing of our community and drive sustainable growth.

We are looking to for an experienced Developments Project Surveyor, coming from an extensive Quantity Surveyor or PQS background to work closely with the Project Manager to help deliver and enable several high-profile schemes for the benefit of our residents and visitors, including Leisure Centre Refurbishments, Community Hubs, and Doctors Surgeries.

This post comes with an additional market supplement, with a review after one year, in recognition of the specialist skills required.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Management of project budgets and cashflows
  • Oversee procurement, tendering and selection of consultants, contractors and suppliers, including drafting agreements
  • Contract administration
  • Advising on value engineering
