| 9 June – 21 July 2025 | Pre-Submission Consultation (Regulation 14) Following the withdrawal of the plan from examination (please see below for explanation), Rye Town Council has produced a Modification Statement in the prescribed format and is managing a new public consultation (Regulation 14) on the Neighbourhood Plan. | April – May 2025 | Examination (Regulation 17) The examination process (Regulation 17) began in mid-April, whereby the examiner posed preliminary questions to Rother District Council (RDC), relating to whether a “Modification Statement” had been provided in the format set out in legislation. A Modification Statement sets out all the changes proposed to be made to a Neighbourhood Plan through a Plan Review. Considering legal advice, RDC determined that unfortunately, the Modification Statement had not been provided in the prescribed format. As such, Rye Town Council took to the decision to withdraw the plan from examination. The preliminary questions and RDC response can be viewed below. Preliminary Questions from the Examiner RDC Response to Preliminary Questions To proceed, it is now necessary for the Neighbourhood Plan, together with a Modification Statement, to be subject to a new round of public consultations. The failure to provide the required statement of modification by Rye was overlooked by RDC during the earlier public consultations; this was due to an information gap, now rectified. |

| 15 October – 26 November 2024 | Pre-Submission Consultation (Regulation 14) Rye Town Council completed the pre-submission consultation for the draft Plan. |
| 8 Jul 2019 | Adoption of the Rye Neighbourhood Plan (Regulation 19) The Rye Neighbourhood Plan was made by Rother District Council at Full Council. |
| 27 Jun 2019 | Referendum on the Adoption of the Rye Neighbourhood Plan Residents of Rye Parish voted 677 to 109 in favour of adopting the modified Plan. |
| 17 May 2019 | Decision to go to Referendum (Regulation 18, 2) Rother District Council decided to take the Rye Neighbourhood Plan to Referendum.

16 Nov 2018 | Publicity and Representation Period (Regulation 16) Rother District Council carried out the publicity and representation period for the Rye Neighbourhood Plan. All duly made representations have been collated into the following document. |
| 27 Oct 2018 | Submission of the Rye Neighbourhood Plan (Regulation 15) Rye Town Council submitted the Rye Neighbourhood Plan to Rother District Council.
