Pest Control Officer

Salary: £24,847 - £27,309 per annum - Starting salary dependent on qualifications and experience

Contract Type: Full Time - 37 hours per week

Contract Length: Permanent Contract

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Pest Control Officer to join the shared Environmental Health Service for Rother and Wealden District Councils. We are committed to delivering high-quality services, protecting public health and safety and improving conditions. You will play a crucial role in ensuring we deliver this essential service to the residents of Rother and Wealden.

As a Pest Control Officer, you will carry out inspections of domestic properties and provide effective treatments for common pests, including rats, mice and wasps.

 Applicants must hold a full UK driving licence. A van will be provided OR a  car payment allowance will be provided.

You will work within a supportive team which includes one pest control officer, business support and Environmental Health Officers. The team cover all aspects of food hygiene, health and safety, supporting local businesses whilst protecting public health. The team has office bases in both Hailsham and Bexhill. Members of the team work flexibly, combining working from home with site visits and the office.

The successful candidate will have the following Key Skills :

  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • an ability to work on their own initiative and within a team
  • understand the safety issues around using rodenticides and insecticides
  • be able to maintain records on a database and manage their own diary
  • be effective in dealing with the public and committed to public service and protecting public health.

Ideally, applicants will hold pest control qualifications (level 2 pest management/control of rodents) and have practical experience. However, we will accept applications from candidates, without  qualifications, provided they show an understanding of what the role entails. If successful, any unqualified candidate will be supported in  completing the necessary qualification for this role .
