Cycle Safely

During the summer months, Bexhill Promenade can become crowded with people enjoying a visit to Bexhill’s award winning beach.

As well as those out for a walk, the Promenade has been designated as a shared space cycle route all the way from the base of Galley Hill to the end of the prom at South Cliff.

There have unfortunately been instances where people have been cycling too fast and too close to pedestrians, putting themselves and other users of the Promenade at risk of harm.

While cycling is both welcomed and permitted along Bexhill Promenade, we are asking cyclists to be aware of others, especially the elderly and families with young children, and to always cycle considerately. If you are out for a ride, please remember to:

  • slow down
  • share the space
  • give way to pedestrians
  • cycle sensibly and safely
  • look out for pedestrians and slow down in busy areas.

Thank you for helping us ensure the Promenade is a safe and welcoming environment for all.
