All our vacancies will be based at the Town Hall in Bexhill unless specified otherwise. Hours of working are usually specified within the advert, any enquiries into job-sharing an advertised role can be raised during the application process or at interview stage.
If you would like to apply for a role at the Council, we do require a completed application form, we are unfortunately unable to accept CVs on their own, they can be added as a supplementary document to your application form. The application form is in a Word 2010, should you have any difficulty downloading the form please contact us on the details below.
The equalities form attached to the application form is not compulsory to complete. This form is separated upon receipt from the application form and is treated confidentially by being kept securely within the Human Resources offices. It is not shared beyond this team nor shown to the shortlisting team and does not affect the progress of the application. This form enables us to comply with the requirements of the Equalities Act and is for monitoring purposes only.

Forms sent by email will receive an acknowledgment email as soon as possible following receipt. Postal applications will not receive an acknowledgement unless specified and a stamp addressed envelope is enclosed.
In your application you should supply as much detail as possible on your previous work history. Qualities listed in the job description can be helpful to refer to when completing the section on relevant experience, this is the key area for recruiting managers to see if your skills and experience match what they are looking for or can be developed to achieve a complete understanding of the role and its duties. The recruiting managers will commence a shortlisting of submitted applications as soon as practicable after the closing date, all applicants will be contacted whether they are successful or not, we aim to update applicants as soon after the closing date as possible. Selected candidates for interview will be contacted by email or letter with details of the interview enclosed. Some roles require candidates to complete a test or deliver a presentation on a subject related to the role. Notice of what is required will be given in the invitation email or letter as soon as possible. The interview panel will compose of a minimum of 2 Rother staff including the recruiting manager or a member of the team the post is advertised for; some roles require a Human Resources Officer to sit in the panel, with more senior members of staff involved in the higher graded posts’ interview processes. Once a decision has been made to appoint we aim to advised all candidates of the outcome of the interview process either verbally or by email as soon as possible.
Offers of employment
Please note any provisional offer of employment is subject to the receipt of 2 references (1 of which can be personal if need be but at least 1 must be employment) and medical clearance. A questionnaire will be sent out as part of the new starter documents with the provisional offer which must be completed and returned as soon as possible . References will only be those candidates supply on their application form or at interview stage that they give permission for the Council to contact.
New starters will need to provide evidence that they have the right to work in the UK, this includes something with their National Insurance number (P45, P60, NI card, letter from the Department for Work and Pensions etc.). Please note we are unable to start new employees until this check has been completed.
