Not all public services in Rother are provided by Rother District Council. If your enquiry is about roads, social care, emergency services, utilities or Universal Credit, you may need to contact one of the organisations below.

East Sussex County Council

East Sussex County Council is responsible for roads and potholes, pavements, streetlights, schools, libraries, adult and children’s social care, Blue Badges, household waste recycling sites, Trading Standards and registering births, deaths and marriages.

Universal Credit

Universal Credit is managed by the Department for Work and Pensions, not Rother District Council.

You can manage your claim through your Universal Credit online account. This includes reporting a change, checking payments, adding a note to your journal or contacting your work coach.

Rother District Council remains responsible for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction.

Sussex Police

Contact Sussex Police to report crime, suspicious behaviour, dangerous driving or police-related antisocial behaviour.

You can report a non-emergency online or call 101. If someone is in immediate danger or a crime is happening now, call 999.

Southern Water

Contact Southern Water about water supply problems, leaks, burst water mains, blocked or flooded public sewers, sewage leaks and wastewater issues.

UK Power Networks

Contact UK Power Networks to check or report a power cut, electricity network fault or damaged electrical equipment.

You can also call 105 during a power cut. Questions about bills, tariffs or meters should be directed to your electricity supplier.

• East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service: Get fire safety advice or arrange a home safety visit. In an emergency, call 999.
• Jobcentre Plus: Get help with the State Pension and other national benefits managed by the Department for Work and Pensions.
• DVLA: Get help with driving licences, vehicle tax, SORN and vehicle log books.
• HM Passport Office: Apply for, renew, replace or update a passport.
• HMRC: Get help with Income Tax, National Insurance, Child Benefit and tax codes.
• Citizens Advice 1066: Get independent advice about benefits, debt, housing, employment and other problems.
