RDC has commissioned Rother Voluntary Action (RVA) to develop and co-ordinate a new Age-Friendly Rother Network (AFRN) with work beginning from April 2026 and scheduled to run until March 2028.
The AFRN is an informal peer network for voluntary and community groups and organisations that support over 55s in Rother. Specifically it will:
- Connect VCSE partners and community representatives, experts and stakeholders.
- Use digital and physical outreach and engagement to ensure the voices and lived experiences of people aged 55+ living in Rother shape local decision making and help make Rother and Age-Friendly place to live.
- Support effective communication and awareness raising through the coordinated use of web content, social media, newsletters, and events.
The project supports RDC’s work with partners around the delivery of the Age Friendly Communities programme in Rother.
The project will contribute to wider Age Friendly partnership activity, including collaboration with Hastings and support for funding bids and public events, providing clear accountability and learning through regular steering group updates, quarterly monitoring reports, and annual reports on outcomes and impact.
