Time running out to apply for community grants

Charities, community groups and organisations, social enterprises, and parish and town councils in Rother are being reminded that they only have until the end of October to apply in the latest round of community grants.

Rother District Council’s £100,000 community grants fund was launched in September, to support grassroots projects across the district.

The fund has three main criteria – bids must demonstrate that they:

  • Boost the local economy, such as providing skills and training opportunities, support people with job opportunities, or offer volunteer placements, and/or
  • Improve health and wellbeing, with activities aimed at addressing health inequalities. Projects could also provide opportunities for older people to take part in activities, or help community sports and recreation initiatives, and/or
  • Protect the environment, such as conservation and biodiversity projects, recycling, reuse and waste reduction initiatives, and plans that promote sustainable energy and climate action at a local level.

Applications will be accepted from not-for-profit organisations with an income of less than £2 million. The fund is not open to applications from individuals. Formerly constituted groups and organisations that apply are expected to be based in Rother and demonstrate their ability to work locally through established networks or with partner organisations.

Groups wishing to apply can view all the information needed to make an application on the Community Grants Scheme section of the Sussex Community Foundation website at: Rother District Council Community Grants Scheme – Sussex Community Foundation

Not-for-profit organisations have until 31 October 2025 to apply.
