House to House Collections

To carry out House to House Collections for charitable purposes in Rother you must apply to us for a licence.

Please note that conditions have been changed so that licences will only be approved for charities registered with the Charity Commission or known locally.  Only one collection will be allowed in any one area per day and that 50% of the whole profits go to the charity.

Procedures

Please read our pdf icon House to House Collection Procedures [196kb].

You must be a fit and proper person.

Regulation summary

A Summary of House to House Regulations has been produced by the National Archives.

Tacit consent

Tacit consent does not apply to House to House Collections.

It is in the public interest that the authority must process your application before it can be granted. If you have not heard from us within a reasonable period, please contact us. You can do this online if you applied using the gov.uk website or use the contact details below.

How to Apply

You can apply for a House to House Collection licence in two ways:

After the Collection

After a House to House Collection you must notify us of the result of your collection. Again you can do this in writing or online using the gov.uk website:

Failed application redress

Please contact us in the first instance.

You have the right to appeal to the Minister for the Cabinet Office. Appeals must be lodged within 14 days of the refusal.

Licence holder redress

Please contact us in the first instance.

You have the right to appeal to the Minister for the Cabinet Office. Appeals must be lodged within 14 days of the decision.

Consumer complaint

We would always advise that in the event of a complaint the first contact is made with the trader by you - preferably in the form a letter (with proof of delivery). If that has not worked gov.uk can offer advice on Consumer Protection Rights.
