This is a quiet beach situated between Bexhill on Sea and Pevensey Beach. It is a shingle beach in a quiet location away from traffic.

 

Beach Safety

The foreshore is a dynamic environment and to stay safe it is important to read and understand the safety information provided on the signage along our foreshore, our website and those of our partners.

Normans Bay Beach is an unattended beach, with no lifeguard or beach patrol facilities.

Information relating to beach safety is also available from the Rother District Council Coastal Officer and signage along the foreshore.

Coastal Office:  Based at Bexhill beach, please call 01424 221407.

Lifeguards:  These are not lifeguarded beaches.

Beach Patrol:  These are not attended beaches.

Emergency facilities:  There are no emergency facilities based at these beaches, please dial 999 in the event of an emergency.

Flags:  Flags are flown to ensure users of the beach and foreshores are aware of sea conditions.

  • Red Flags:  Do not bathe, swim or enter the water when a red flag is flying, water conditions are dangerous.
  • Orange Flags/Socks:  Do not use inflatables when an orange flag/sock is flying, there are strong off-shore winds.

Soft Sand Signs:  Please take note of the signage relating to areas of soft sand, these areas move along the foreshore and occur at low tide, usually around groyne ends and rocky outcrops.  These areas will not support the weight of a person or child and if walked through you will sink into the sand.  Anyone who finds themselves in difficulty or who witnesses someone else in difficulty, should dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

Life Belts:  Life belts are positioned at regular intervals along the foreshore and are clearly visible in red boxes.  Please report any missing or damaged lifebelts to the Coastal Office on 01424 221407.
