Direct Debit

Direct Debit is a safe, convenient and inexpensive way to pay Council Tax and is widely used by the taxpayers of Rother District.  Payment by this method gives no worries about remembering to pay at the right time, does not involve queuing at a bank, building society or post office counter, and does not involve the writing out and posting of cheques.

There is also the safety of the Direct Debit guarantee:

  • If the amounts to be paid or the payment date change, you will be told of this in advance by at least 14 days, as agreed.
  • If an error is made by Rother District Council or your Bank or Building Society, you are guaranteed a full and immediate refund from your branch of the amount paid.
  • You can cancel the Direct Debit at any time by writing to your Bank or Building Society. Please also send a copy of your letter to Rother District Council.

This Guarantee is offered by all Banks and Building Societies that take part in the Direct Debit Scheme. The efficiency and security of the Scheme is monitored and protected by your own Bank or Building Society.

If you wish to pay by Direct Debit you can set this up online. You will be asked to indicate your preferred date of payment from a list of options that are available to you. Please note: you will need your Council Tax reference number.
