Rother District Council

In the Rother District there are leisure centres and sports halls providing a variety of activities. This page gives you details about the venues and how you can find out more.

Freedom Leisure operates Bexhill Leisure Centre, Bexhill Leisure Pool and Rye Sports Centre and Pool on behalf of Rother District Council as a not-for-profit trust. Details on Freedom Leisure and these sites can be found at www.freedom-leisure.co.uk.                 There are also sports halls linked to educational establishments across the District that are open for community use: Battle Area Sports Centre Pretious Sports Hall, Northiam Bexhill College Sports Hall In addition, there are private sports centres and health clubs that operate across Rother. Details of many of these can be found at www.activerother.org.uk/places/leisurecentres Please note: Leisure centres will have alterations to opening hours and days over the 2009 festive period. Please contact the individual centre directly (via their website or by telephone) before you set off.

Bexhill Leisure Pool - View Location Map

Bexhill Leisure Pool on Ravenside Retail Park offers a great swimming experience for the whole family.

The pool has a flume and wave machine making it the ideal place for having fun in the water.

The pool is also popular for lane swimming whether for fitness, relaxation or just for enjoyment and meeting new people.

Aqua fit classes and swimming lessons are also available.

The Pool centre also has

Rye Sports Centre and Pool - View Location Map

Rye Sports Centre offers a range of sports and leisure facilities for the whole community.

• 25m pool
• Gym with cardio vascular and resistance equipment
• exercise studio offering a small programme of classes
• sports hall for badminton, five aside football etc
• squash court
• birthday parties

Membership is available or you can use any facility at any time on a pay as you go basis.

The centre is well situated for public transport links and has dedicated parking. The swim school programme offers a range of classes for all ages and abilities and during school holidays there are activity programmes for children with an 'Active Membership' option. Children's parties can be booked on Saturdays and Sundays with private pool parties being available on Saturdays between 5-6pm.

Battle Area Sports Centre - View Location Map

Situated at Claverham Community College in North Trade Road, Battle, this sports facility is available for community use after school hours and at the weekends. From Judo and Gymnastics to Kids Clubs and Rock Climbing this sports centre offers a nice range of activities for all ages.

Pretious Sports Hall, Northiam - View Location Map

This brand new Sports Hall on the site of Northiam C of E Primary School offers a wide range programme for adults and children after school and at the weekends.

With activities such as Tai Chi, Aerobics, Table Tennis and Basketball plus children's after school and holiday programmes and taster sessions, this new facility makes it easy to become more active.

Bexhill College Sports Hall - View Location Map

The College sports hall in Penland Road, Bexhill, is available for community use after school hours and at weekends. Holiday programmes with a wide variety of activities are run for children at a very reasonable cost.
