Horse Riding - Camber SandsIn view of the fact that more people use Camber Sands during the summer season, i.e. between Easter and the end of September, there is a greater risk of horses causing danger or annoyance to persons using the Seashore. Therefore, horse riders are only permitted to ride at certain hours, i.e. before 8.30am or after 7:30pm between Easter and mid October. It is also always best to choose the best tide, i.e. Low tide and avoid weekends where possible. Horse Riding Summer 2012 The last date for unrestricted riding is Friday, 30th March. From that date until 7th October 2012, Horse Riding will be restricted to Weekdays early mornings (off beach strictly by 0830hrs) or evenings (after 1900hrs). Please note that our car parks are locked at Weekends after peak hours. Horse Owners should also be aware that winter weekends can still be very busy, and parking can be an issue during peak hours. Early mornings or late afternoons avoid such conflicts. Any mess MUST be cleared up and taken away. Car Parks During the Summer season the gates at the main car park at Camber are locked at 20.00hrs on Fridays and Saturdays and on a Monday if a Bank Holiday follows it. The car parks will not open on these days until 0830 so you will have to find a safe and legal place to park when you arrive. In Winter months the gates are not locked. Please be aware the Car Park is Pay and Display. Tickets for each space used must be purchased. Any mess, horse or dog, should be cleared up. Byelaws made by Rural District Council of Battle No. 11 Riding & Driving No person shall on the seashore break in any horse or other animal, or ride or drive any horse or other animal in a race or so as to cause danger or annoyance to any person using the seashore. Horse riding on the sands is at the discretion of Robert Cass, the Coastal Control Officer, based at Camber who can be contacted from 8am to 5pm on: 01797 225207 or 07714 696218 or you can email on: camberoffice@rother.gov.uk All Horse riding usage is subject to change by 'The Coastal Control Officer' should there be a lot of Beach Users first thing in the morning or late at night.
