With the upcoming changes to on-street parking charges in Bexhill, Rye and Battle due to the introduction of Civil Parking Enforcement (CPE), it is anticipated that there will be increased use of some of our car parks from late September.

Why we are making changes

The car parks affected are all in areas where new on-street parking charges will come into force this September. To help reduce the impact on our car parks and protect spaces for fair use by residents and visitors, we’re introducing charges to some car parks in Rother and changing the charges in some others.

The changes will:

  • help ensure fair availability of parking spaces
  • standardise charges across the district, and
  • cover the increased maintenance cost which will come with more use, without extra cost to the taxpayer.

This will be the first time that car park charges have changed since 2014, and not all car parks are seeing an increase in charges – Eversley Road car park will see a reduction and the De La Warr car park will remain the same.

Review period

These changes will be reviewed while we assess the impact of on-street parking on our car parks. Once the new charges are implemented there will be a review period of six months.

Which car parks will see changes to charging?

The following car parks will see changes to charges:

  • Egerton Park
  • Front of Town hall (weekend and Bank Holidays only)
  • Galley Hill – foot
  • Galley Hill – top
  • Manor Gardens
  • Polegrove – Richmond Rd
  • War Memorial
  • Rye Salts

See the details of charges in the Cabinet papers.

When will this happen?

We will introduce these changes soon after the introduction of CPE on 29th September, please look out for local signage or check our Car Parks page.

Annual car park permits

Annual nominated car park permits will be reduced in price from £498.50 to £321.50 to coincide with these changes.
