In recognition of the importance of trees within our environment and with the objective of building a community caring for the Rother treescape,  Rother tree wardens and tree champions are offered a place at Lantra 1-day Basic Tree Survey and Inspection course.

The training will take place at the beautiful grounds of Ashburnham Place


Dates: 17, 18, 19 September

Start: 9am with 4pm finish (am classroom based, pm outdoors practical session)

Location: Ashburnham Place, Ashburnham, Battle TN33 9NF

Open to: tree champions and tree wardens who are affiliated with and formally acknowledged as Tree Wardens for one of the 32 parishes and towns in the Rother District


The Lantra 1-day Basic Tree Survey and Inspection training is a hazard recognition course for tree wardens to be able to recognise and then report issues to an appropriate tree expert. The training elements include Health and Safety, Risk assessment, legal framework, as well topical issues such as ash dieback. The course is not subject to an assessment, instead a certificate of attendance will be issued. The 1-day training will take place on 3 consecutive days, with maximum of 14 attendees per a cohort.

Rother tree wardens, to book a place, please email Brian Griffiths, Tree Officer, Brian.Griffiths@rother.gov.uk  and specify which  Rother parish or town you are a tree warden for and which is your preferred date for the training (17, 18, or 19 September). Places are subject to availability; allocation of places is at discretion of an organiser.
