Community Led Housing Enabling Assistant

Salary: £23,152 - £25,542 per annum (Starting salary dependent on qualifications and experience)

Contract Type: Full Time - 37 hours per week

Contract Length: Temporary Contract - 2 Years

As Community Led Housing Enabling Assistant, you will be part of a small team responsible for delivering all forms of housing in Rother. Primarily, you will assist the Housing Enabling & Development Officer in providing vital enabling services to increase the provision of new Community Led affordable housing.

Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Working with the Sussex Community Housing Hub, neighbourhood planning groups, parish councils, Community Land Trusts, and community groups to facilitate the delivery of affordable housing across the District
  • Working with all stakeholders involved in the delivery of Community Led Housing to bring forward development projects
  • Assisting on negotiations through the planning process to maximise and secure delivery of affordable housing on sites across the district
  • Working closely with colleagues in Housing & Regeneration, Planning and Legal services, as well as with Landowners, Developers and Registered Providers
  • Assisting with the delivery of the councils Housing Development Strategy which is currently being created.

Skills and Experience:

  • Effectively support projects and be experienced at balancing competing priorities
  • Be able to demonstrate excellent communication and administration skills and be computer literate
  • Knowledge of affordable housing is desirable as is knowledge of the workings of community led housing and local government in general
  • Support the creation and management of tools and processes to build an accurate picture of housing need across the district to parish level. This may include managing a waiting list
  • Support the wider Housing service with all data entry, collection, interpretation and reporting requirements to aid delivery of new CLH sites.
