As the evenings get lighter and the worst of the cold weather is behind us it is a sure sign that Spring is almost upon us.

But while the flowers start to decorate our parks and gardens, the chancellor is working on his first Spring Budget, due 15th March. We will soon find out what this means for businesses and what help the government will put in place for those still struggling and we will continue to bring you information on the help and support available to all our local businesses.

In this month’s issue we offer help to business owners who would information regarding the Commercial Waste regulations that affect all businesses. We also feature the local Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair, International Women’s Day and list details on a free online course for businesses looking at developing their Environment Strategy.

If you have a business event that you would like us to promote or a success story that you would like us to share, please let us know at businessalerts@rother.gov.uk

International Women’s Day

This year Let’s Do Business Group and BIPC Local at Hastings Library are hosting a one-day event to celebrate International Women’s Day 2023, to teach aspiring female entrepreneurs the skills to launch their idea and to highlight existing businesswomen in East Sussex.

Come along to the Hastings Library for a series of mini-workshops from expert business coaches, and an afternoon of informal networking and celebrating successful local businesswomen.

Through learning from each other and sharing the experiences of women in business, we can #EmbraceEquity, and celebrate the potential of women in our local community.

Steps To Environmental Management

Low Carbon Across the South East (LoCASE) is delivering a series of STEM workshops to guide companies towards an effective Environmental Management strategy.

The 4hr introductory session is free to attend; hosted by the Low Carbon Kent network at Kent County Council.

It takes place at 9am on Friday 17th March and will take firms through what it means to have an environmental policy, what to include in (and how to carry out) a baseline assessment of your aspects and impacts.

There’ll also be the chance to learn about other support available to you in the region.
