Rother District Council is pleased to announce the launch of its VE Day Celebration 2020 Grants Scheme in commemoration of the 75th anniversary of VE Day.
Grants of up to £500 will be offered to community groups and Parish and Town Councils within the Rother District who wish to commemorate next year’s VE Day celebrations.
Local groups and organisations seeking funding are able to apply to the scheme when it opens from 1 December 2019.
Applications will be assessed on their individual merits and against the criteria within the guidance, which can be found at the related documents below.
Submissions will be considered as they are received by the Council and applicants will be notified of the decision within 14 days of receipt. The closing date for the Grants Scheme is 9am on Friday, 1 May 2020.
The expectation is that events will take place on VE Day – Friday, 8 May 2020.
All applicants will need the support of their Ward Councillors and are therefore encouraged to get in contact with the appropriate Councillors who can help and advise them on ensuring their application is submitted within the terms of the scheme.
Projects must demonstrate a clear link to VE Day and actively benefit Rother residents, promoting access for all and community wellbeing.
Funding will not be granted towards firework displays.
Applicants will have to demonstrate that Rother District Council funding is at least matched pound-for-pound by other funds and will need to show they have a bank account in place to process the grant.
All community events must, in some way, acknowledge Rother District Council’s contribution.
Advice about obtaining public liability insurance, licences etc may be sought from
Town and Parish Councils or Rother Voluntary Action (RVA).
