Visit Britain

Visit Britain are Britain's national tourism agency, responsible for marketing Britain overseas and is funded by the Department for Culture Media and Sport (DCMS)

www.visitbritain.com is the consumer facing website promoting Britain to overseas visitors. The website is available in a number of different languages. If you are a quality assessed accommodation establishment you will feature on the website in the accommodation section.

www.visitbritain.org is the industry website - Visit Britain provide information on statistics, new legislation, marketing opportunities and trends information. You can sign up for an e-newsletter on the site.

Tourism South East

Tourism South East (TSE) is the Regional Tourist Board. TSE are the strategic tourism body for the South East of England; a partnership of private sector and local and regional government bodies including Local Authorities.

www.visitsoutheastengland.com is TSE's consumer facing website promoting the South East area to visitors. All quality assessed businesses are featured on the website.

1066 Country

1066 Country is a public and private sector partnership mainly funded by Rother District Council and Hastings Borough Council. Other partners include Wealden District Council, East Sussex County Council, Tourism South East, English Heritage, National Trust and 75 private sector partners.

1066 Country is the umbrella marketing brand for the Rother area including Battle, Bexhill, Rye and the surrounding countryside. Rother District Council puts resources into this partnership to market and promote the area to potential visitors in a number of ways.

1066 Country has an annual budget which is spent on the following activities:

  • Website - dedicated tourism website  Visit 1066 Country.
  • Printed Material - Attractions and Group Travel Guide, targeted postcards through out the year
  • PR - Dedicated Travel Trade and PR support
  • Attendance at Overseas and Domestic Exhibitions - such as Best of Britain and Ireland, Meet the Media/Buyer etc
  • Lobbying of regional / central government on the industry's behalf

Rother District Council

Rother District Council are committed to supporting and developing the tourism industry of the district. Tourism currently sits in the Regeneration Department of the Council and has a number of remits:

  • Marketing and promotion of the district via the 1066 Country Campaign.
  • Support and facilitation of local marketing and events in Battle, Bexhill and Rye.
  • Visitor Information Provision through supporting a national network of Tourist Information Centres and Tourist Information Points within the district.
  • Business Support.
  • Securing funding for project work including Camber central car park redevelopment and walking and cycling routes, Sussex Breakfast project.
  • Maintaining the 1066 Country Walk with partners.
  • Lobbying and representing Rother and wider 1066 Country area on a regional and national forum.
  • Dedicated Regeneration and Tourism Officer and Data Steward.
