HOMEMOVE - A NEW LETTINGS POLICY FOR ROTHERA major change in the way housing associations let their homes has arrived in Rother. The choice based lettings scheme, called HOMEMOVE, allows people looking for housing to bid for the properties they are interested in. Before, people on the waiting list were simply allocated homes by the council, but now people have the chance to choose the ones they are interested in The new scheme went live on 1st April 2008 with the launch of a new website – www.homemove.org.uk – and a free fortnightly magazine advertising available properties. Current tenants looking for a transfer and new housing applicants can bid for the homes through the website, by telephone, by text or by using special coupons. The magazine will be available at local libraries, housing offices and other council and public buildings across the district. The Council have been working with LOCATA Housing Services Ltd (LHS) to set up and run the choice based lettings services in the district. The LOCATA West London choice based lettings scheme is one of the original 27 pilots set up by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister in 2000, to design a housing options scheme that gave its citizens more choice in where they live. All details regarding how to 'bid' for properties using the scheme are available in the Feedback from the consultation process is available |
