Bexhill Traders Group urge residents to shop local
Retail traders in Bexhill are adopting "Ten Reasons to Shop Local", an initiative to increase the value of local shops and services, keep money in the local economy, and promote environmental sustainability within the Town. - To promote community well-being. Do you have a chat to the shopkeeper when you collect your loaf or newspaper? Try doing that to the self checkout machine!
- Local shops are for everyone, unlike retail parks which are just for those who can drive to them.
- It protect local distinctiveness, which is precisely what makes Bexhill special.
- Local shops value you more, they listen to you and try to stock the things you ask for.
- It saves services, if the shops go, then so could the dentists, chiropodists, hairdressers and others that trade around the shops.
- It keeps money in the local economy, it makes the locality more prosperous.
- It provides local jobs.
- It promotes environmental sustainability and reduces car use. It can also help to keep you fit walking around the town.
