After a 10 minute search of the Council's website I've located the minutes of the meeting held on 12 April and expected to find the date of the next meeting. All that is mentioned is date of next inspection (22 May, 8.30am). a) Why is it so difficult to find such fundamental information? b) Why is there no published programme of meetings? Q. Re Q 964 and 965. I find the term 'non-displacement' a little confusing when referring to water craft. ANY craft that either floats or sinks displaces water. If it floats, it displaces its own weight of water. If it sinks, it displaces its own volume of water. This being so, how is it possible to have a water craft legally defined as non-displacement? The object of the question was to ascertain the total cost of the shelters which you managed to avoid by confirming only the sub structure costs. May I assume that the total for each shelter is £84,500 (£57,500 plus £27,000) or a grand total for all four of £338,000. Is £338,000 the final, definitive total, inclusive of architect's fees, construction, sub structure, delivery, et al? And how does the final, definitive total compare against the original budget? Q. I would be interested to know what was the brief for the design of the new shelters on the Bexhill Promenade. I moved to the town last summer from living in a London Borough. We are very happy here and enjoy walking on the promenade and the completed work looks great. However, we cannot understand the thought process that went into the design of the new shelters as they seem totally out of keeping with the architecture of the rest of the area. I would be grateful if you could explain so that my wife and I can understand what they are meant to represent. I appreciate that there has been a lot of negativity about the shelters perhaps it would help if you could explain the reason for the design and why they are not in keeping with the area. Thank you. Q. I need to know your obligation in keeping the car parks at Battle clear from snow and ice. At the moment they are exceedingly dangerous. I work in Battle and each year pay for an annual permit, last year's being £260. Will you please let me know how much of the car parking charge revenue is allocated to the upkeep of the car parks. Q. Following the stormy weather on 2/3 January two of the hoarding boards at the former Grand Hotel site were blown down across the footpath and road. They remained in that position for three days causing problems for pedestrians and buggies etc. They were moved to lean against the hoarding. I reported the situation to East Sussex County Council and today received an e-mail informing me that a visit had been made to the site, loose panels had been made safe and the panel obstructing the footway had been thrown back into the developers site. Would it not have been better to replace the boards and invoice the landlord? The site is now wide open for fly tipping. (24/01/2012)
