Rother District Council

A partnership agreement to save money and offer greater efficiency on building control services has been signed by Hastings Borough Council and Rother District Council.

The move sees a joint service being delivered under the banner of the Rother and Hastings Building Control Partnership.

Building control provides a plan checking and site inspection service for new developments, including extensions and changes of use. Building control staff inspect buildings to make sure they comply with regulations on structural stability, fire safety, fuel and power conservation and disabled access.

The new service covers both the Hastings and Rother local authority areas and is based at Bexhill Town Hall, although Hastings customers can still contact the service through the Hastings contact centre. And officers with specialist Hastings knowledge will still spend much of their time in the town.
