Contrary to popular belief, Britain in Bloom is not just about seasonal flower displays! This long-standing campaign encourages communities to improve their local areas by making them safer, cleaner and greener resulting in increased civic pride and a stronger local identity. | The campaign addresses sustainability, local environmental quality and public awareness. It encourages recycling, the establishment of conservation areas and the tackling of litter, graffiti, vandalism and anti-social behaviour. Horticulture remains an important part of the initiative, but communities are encouraged to consider a range of planting including permanent planting such as trees, shrubs and herbaceous perennials, wildflower meadows and fruit and vegetable gardening as well as annual bedding. | Find out more about Britain in Bloom | Within Rother, there are 3 active 'In Bloom' groups; Bexhill-in-Bloom, Rye-in-Bloom and Beautiful Battle. These groups run local competitions for residents, businesses and schools in their areas. They do much to enhance the outdoor environment of our towns and achieve this through the commitment of a small number of volunteers.
