Environmental Health

Welcome to the Environmental Health Service

Environmental Health is the branch of public health that addresses all the physical, chemical, and biological factors that affect people's health. This may be through the assessment and control of those environmental factors, or through inspections and licensing. Environmental Health is always targeted towards preventing disease and creating health-supportive environments. The delivery of our Environmental Health Service is targeted in particular to;

  • The proportionate and transparent enforcement of public health legislation
  • Protection of the human environment
  • Ensuring food safety standards are being maintained and improved
  • Ensure workplace health safety and wellbeing standards are maintained and improved
  • Eliminating vectors of disease and public health nuisance
  • Working with others to improve public health and protect public health rights

The issues we deal with include air pollution, food hygiene, health and safety at work, licensing, contaminated land, pest and dog control.
