Schemes, Awards and GrantsThe Sports Development Officer is the key link officer for Sport England on Sports Lottery Schemes. In conjunction with local clubs and partners there have been several successes in the past. These include successful awards for:

The Sports Development Officer would welcome the chance to discuss any proposals to discuss any community projects with project managers. Proposals should include a strategic justification and and how the scheme will help develop community sport. More details on the Sports Lottery Awards and Sport England Initiatives can be found on the Sport England Website www.sportengland.org. Clubs have also benefited from funding via Rother DC for club development plans and programmes which involves more people in sport and physical activity. This includes support for volunteers, part funding for coaching courses and in developing club/school community links. Rother DC does not provide grants for individual performers but participates in the FANS Scheme which provides free access (off peak) to leisure facilities for talented athletes. Community Sports Coaches Rother District Council hosts a part time athletics coach as part of the Community Sports Coach scheme. This is a scheme part funded by the Government and the Hastings & Rother Schools Sport Partnership. Over the country 3000 posts have been created in line with the recommendations of the Coaching Task Force (July 2002) to increase the number of coaches and the quality of coaching at a local level. Ex-Olympic athlete Sean Baldock is currently in post and works across the Hastings & Rother area. This includes working with schools, local clubs and the wider community.
