Rother District Council

The Rother District Local Plan was adopted on 10th July 2006. The Notice of Adoption is available to download (right). This Local Plan sets out the vision and strategy for land use and development in Rother District. It includes specific planning policies and proposals that will be applied to manage development and change up to 2011.

The Local Plan comprises the Written Statement, (see Related Media), the Proposals Map and component 'Inset Maps' (see Related Pages) which shows the locations where specific policies and proposals apply.

The Local Plan, together with the adopted South East Plan comprises the statutory 'development plan' for Rother.

All the Local Plan policies have been 'saved' by the Secretary of State (see Rother District Direction and decision letter under Related Media). This means that these policies will continue to be applied until replaced by new policies in LDF 'development plan documents'.

Legislation requires that planning applications be determined in accordance with the development plan unless material considerations indicate otherwise.

The Council is currently preparing its Local Development Framework, which will replace the relevant policies of the Local Plan (when adopted).
