Bexhill Museum Entrance

The Bexhill Museum in Egerton Road has recently undergone extensive building works and refurbishment.

The Museums Renaissance in Bexhill Project has provided a much larger museum with three galleries under one roof:

  • The Henry Sargent Gallery - housed in the original part of the museum exhibits include artefacts from dinosaurs to the giant crab of Japan, from Egyptology to Ethnography - this gallery has variety and scope to interest everybody. Come and see local wildlife, history, geology and archaeology illustrated and explained in our displays. The temporary exhibitions programme explores a wide range of subjects. Many activities and events are held throughout the year for both young and old alike.
  • The Costume and Social History Gallery - originally located in Manor Gardens, Old Town, Bexhill, the Museums Renaissance in Bexhill project has created a brand new gallery to display clothes and memorabilia from the 18th Century to the present day.
  • The Motoring Gallery - the Renaissance project has provided a third gallery below the Costume Gallery, at the level of Egerton Park. There are three cars on display helping to explore the rich motoring history of Bexhill-on-Sea. There are also interactive exhibits which both children and adults will find fun and educational.

The Museums Renaissance in Bexhill project is funded by Heritage Lottery Fund, Rother District Council, Society of Bexhill Museums and Interreg III.
