Daily waste collections (Mon-Fri) only apply to Devonshire, Sackville, St Leonards and Western Road, Bexhill.

Q: When do I need to put my rubbish out for collection?

A:

Rubbish sacks must be presented for collection outside your property by 7am (Mon-Fri). Do not place it out the night before. By having collections Monday to Friday we hope this makes it easier for you to put your rubbish out on the same day by 7am ready for collection.

Q: Can I put my rubbish in any type of sack or bag?

A:

No we would kindly ask residents to use stronger heavy duty rubbish sacks which should reduce spillages and reduce the impact of seagulls and animal scavenging. Always tie a knot in the sack to stop spillages. If you are using a seagull sack you still need to place you rubbish into separate sacks, DO NOT place rubbish loose directly into your seagull sack.

Q: I cant get my rubbish out for 7am, can I put it out later in the day?

A:

The daily collection (Mon-Fri) has been introduced to give resident more opportunity to present rubbish on the same day as collection by 7am. If you miss the collection keep your rubbish indoors and place it out the following day by 7am (Mon-Fri). Do not put rubbish out on the street during the day or at weekends, this will be viewed as fly tipping (illegal dumping of waste) which is an offence for which you can be fined.

Q: Can I use a seagull sack?

A:

A seagull sack can be used for your waste collection but only if you are able to remove it immediately after collection. Any Seagull sack left on the pavement after 9am will be removed. You still need to bag your rubbish in separate strong sacks, DO NOT place rubbish loose directly into a seagull sack.

Q: How can I recycle?

A:

Recycling collections will remain fortnightly using pink sacks*. Please present for collection outside your property by 7am on the day of collection (Thursday). Do not place out the night before. Please visit when is my bin day for collection arrangements.  *Pink sacks can be collected from Rother Town Hall, Town Hall Square, TN39 3JX.

Q: What items can I recycle?

A:

Visit our website to see what materials you can recycle using your pink sack: Household Recycling Use the nearby recycling points at Parkhurst Road (Glass) and Sainsbury’s car park (Mixed Recycling see above website link for guidance).

Q: Can business waste be presented as part of these daily collections?

A:

The daily collection service is for residents only, Rother’s on street Compliance Officers will investigate any evidence of shops and businesses putting out waste for this service and take the appropriate action against them. We would kindly ask any residents who witness businesses acting in this way to report them customer.services@rother.gov.uk.

Q: Why can't we have a bin for our waste?

A:

The majority of properties in Bexhill town centre have nowhere to store waste bins and this would mean bins left permanently on the high street. This would have a negative impact on the look on the high street and it is likely these bins would also encourage further waste and incidents of fly tipping. Larger communal bins have been considered housed within screens but for the number required to service the town centre there is not suitable space and these too would likely encourage fly tipping and become an eyesore.

Q: There are other roads in the town centre, why are these not getting daily collections?

A:

Devonshire, Sackville, St Leonards and Western Road are all roads where the majority of residents have no outside space to store waste. Other roads within the town centre have space for the majority of residents to store waste outside their property but not directly on the pavement.
