Landlords' Guide to the Housing Act 2004 and HMO information.

Part 2 of the Act deals with Houses in Multiple Occupation (also known as HMOs), the government has issued some general advice on HMOs and the criteria for mandatory licensing.

Extending the Licensing of HMOs - preliminary information

The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) has ended a consultation on 'Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO) and residential property licensing reforms'.

The consultation invited stakeholders to have their say on the proposed changes, came ahead of plans to make a number of amendments through secondary legislation in order to increase the volume of homes in England that are subject to mandatory licensing.
