How can I inspect the Electoral Register?

Inspecting the Register

Members of the public may inspect the Register of Electors under supervision at our community help points:

Help Point Locations

The Register may only be inspected to check your details or those of other voters for electoral purposes.

They should not be used for debt collection purposes or tracing people for whatever reason. If the supervisor believes you are misusing the register, you will be asked to leave. You do not need to make an appointment to view the Electoral Register.

  • The Electoral Register is arranged in alphabetical street order within polling districts.
  • They are not arranged in alphabetical voter order.
  • You are allowed to make handwritten notes but you are not allowed to make photocopies or digital images of the Register.
  • You will be asked to sign a declaration that you are only using the register for electoral purposes.

If you have a specific question about your own entry in the register, we can often resolve these queries without your needing to inspect the register - just use the contact form below to ask your question, and we will get back to us as soon as we can.

Alternatively, if you wish to inspect the open register only, please make that request by filling in the contact form below.

  • We require 24 hours notice to provide access to the Open Register, which is only available for inspection at the Town Hall.
  • The Open Register is an extract of the Electoral Register, which can be viewed for any lawful purpose.
  • The Open Register is arranged in alphabetical street order within polling districts.
  • As people may "opt out" of the Open Register the Open Register is not a full list of registered electors.
