Residents of Sedlescombe voted 476 to 76 in favour of adopting the modified Sedlescombe Neighbourhood Plan.

18 Dec 2017

Decision to go to Referendum (Regulation 18, 2)Rother District Council decided to take the Sedlescombe Neighbourhood Plan to Referendum. The relevant Minute (CB17/55) constitutes the ‘Decision Statement’ to proceed to Referendum.

19 Nov 2017

Publication of the Examiners Report (Regulation 18, 1)The Examiner produced his Report in which he recommended modifications that would enable the Plan to proceed to Referendum.

    Public Hearing on the Examination of the Sedlescombe Neighbourhood Plan

    The Examiner held a Public Hearing on the Examination of the Sedlescombe Neighbourhood Plan at Bexhill Town Hall. The hearing was open to the public, with invited representatives permitted to take part in discussions.

    Mr Edward Cousins was appointed to undertake an independent Examination of the revised Sedlescombe Neighbourhood Plan and was sent the Plan, along with the supporting documents and representations.

    Sedlescombe Parish Council formally withdrew the Plan.

    Report to Cabinet

    A report was presented to Cabinet putting forward two recommendations for consideration, as follows:

    Recommendation: It be RESOLVED: That Sedlescombe Parish Council be asked if it wishes to withdraw the Sedlescombe Neighbourhood Plan and undertake further consultation under Regulation 14 of The Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012.

    Recommendation to COUNCIL: That: If Sedlescombe Parish Council has not withdrawn the Neighbourhood Plan prior to Full Council, then the Sedlescombe Neighbourhood Plan incorporating the Examiner’s modifications, as set out at Appendix 2, proceed to local referendum.

    Rother District Council confirmed that the marked area shown on the submitted map (being that of Sedlescombe Parish) was formally designated as a Neighbourhood Area.

    Application for the designation of Sedlescombe Parish as a Neighbourhood Area (Regulation 5)

    Sedlescombe Parish Council (as the relevant body) submitted to Rother District Council an application for the designation of Sedlescombe Parish as a Neighbourhood Area.

    This application included the following:

    • A map which identifies the area to which the application relates 
    • A statement explaining why the area is considered appropriate to be designated as a Neighbourhood Area 
    •  A statement setting out why Sedlescombe Parish Council is a relevant body for the purposes of section 61G of the Town & Country Planning Act 1990
